Our Strategy

Our Strategy is an important document that sets out our preferred routes to achieving our mission.

We published our Strategy in March 2006 following Government approval and public consultation on our Draft Strategy. We received more than 270 responses to the consultation, which are available in our Document Library. We also undertook an environmental assessment of various options.

On 30 March 2006, NDA published its current Government approved Strategy.

The current approved Strategy covers years 2006 - 2011.

Developing Our Strategy

 

We are reviewing our Strategy. We expect to publish our revised Strategic Plan, following public consultation and Government approval, early in 2011.

We will engage with stakeholders to develop our strategy in various topic areas.

Strategic Environmental Assessment
The NDA is consulting statutory consultees on the scope of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) it plans to undertake to support the review of NDA's Strategy and the development of a UK wide Strategy for the Management of Solid LLW from Nuclear Sites. This consultation on a Scoping Report is primarily focussed on allowing nature conservation, heritage and environmental regulators to ensure their areas of interest are appropriately covered.
Health, Safety, Security and Environment
Includes NDA's responsibilities, contractor responsibilities, and interactions with regulators.
Decommissioning
Includes hazard reduction and site end states.
Waste Management
This section outlines waste management responsibilities and issues.
Commercial Operations
Includes operational facilities, THORP, Sellafield MOX Plant (SMP), and Springfields Fuels.
Nuclear Materials
Includes management of uranics and plutonium.
Competition and Contracting
This section outlines NDA developing strategy related to supply chain and competition.
