Plutonium Options for Comment

We published Plutonium Options document setting out the potential future management of the UK civil nuclear plutonium stockpile.

After the comment period we hosted a workshop with people from industry, Government Departments and Regulators including representatives from the National Stakeholder Group who had registered an interest in Plutonium previously with the Material Issues Group.

We sought more industry data to support our options analysis to underpin the technical assumptions and gave us the opportunity to understand if the approach we are taking in terms of defining and analysing the credible options is reasonable i.e.

• what we should be taking into consideration when we are analysing the options
• where we have made assumptions that involve value judgements that these are sensible

We explained how we plan to incorporate views into the advice that we provide to Government.
