When will sites be competed?

Between 2009 and 2012, the NDA intends to run two Parent Body Organisation (PBO) competitions to complete the process of introducing new delivery partners to assist the NDA in its clean-up mission.

The first of these will see the selection of a PBO for Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL). DSRL is currently owned by UKAEA and manages and operates the Dounreay site near Thurso in Scotland. Contract award for DSRL is expected to be achieved by the end of 2010.

The second competition, commencing is in 2011 and expected to complete in 2012, will select a single PBO for 3 Site Licence Companies:

  • Magnox North Limited, including Chapelcross, Hunterston A, Trawsfynydd, Wylfa and Oldbury sites;
  • Magnox South Limited, including Berkeley, Bradwell, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A and Sizewell A sites; and
  • Research Sites Restoration Limited (RSRL), including Winfrith and Harwell sites.
